HOUSTON YOUTH HOCKEY GROUP
Empowering Youth, Growing Hockey
At Houston Youth Hockey Group, we are committed to making youth hockey accessible and affordable to every child in Houston. We collaborate with local schools, sports leagues, community centers, and diverse organizations to foster new opportunities for children from all backgrounds. Our mission encompasses two main objectives: first, to expand youth hockey through access to equipment, coaching, and training resources; and second, to ensure that no child misses the chance to play due to lack of resources. Our efforts in programming and fundraising aim to give every child in Houston the chance to discover the joy and benefits of hockey.
OUR CORE VALUES:
Engagement
We engage with local underprivileged youth to leverage hockey as a tool for teaching essential life skills such as commitment, perseverance, and teamwork. By introducing young people to role models who exemplify discipline and dedication, we open new doors for them. Our coaches utilize hockey to impart critical skills like problem-solving, communication, goal-setting, and teamwork. These invaluable experiences prepare our youth for future success.
Growth
Our vision is to significantly increase participation in youth hockey, targeting boys and girls aged four to ten throughout the Houston Metroplex. We strive to create a diverse and inclusive hockey community, where every child feels welcomed. Initiatives include providing equipment, coaching, and mentorship to children from underserved areas, along with scholarships to assist with the costs of participation. Our goal is to cultivate a broader, more inclusive hockey environment.
OUR PROGRAMS:
Community Engagement Program
In a city where hockey is still burgeoning, our Community Engagement Program plays a pivotal role in popularizing the sport. We teach the fundamentals of hockey, both on and off the ice, making it accessible for all. Despite the limited ice availability, we work tirelessly to ensure affordable access so everyone can continue to develop their hockey skills. Through our new partnership with NHL Street, we introduce children to hockey in a fun and engaging manner using NHL Street equipment. This partnership enhances our presence at community events and schools, helping us reach a more diversified audience.
Community Awareness Program
We actively participate in community fairs, festivals, and events to raise awareness about our organization and the opportunities available for playing hockey in Houston. These events allow us to engage with local youth and their families, fostering interest in our programs. Additionally, we collaborate with local businesses to help manage the costs associated with these events, ensuring our programs remain accessible and sustainable. Supported by NHL Street, we bring a dynamic and interactive hockey experience to these community gatherings, increasing our visibility and impact.
OPERATIONAL STRUCTURE:
Board of Directors
Houston Youth Hockey Group is overseen by a board of six directors. While our board operates independently, we value and incorporate feedback from various stakeholders within the hockey community.

We are dedicated to expanding hockey's reach in Houston and collaborate openly with any organization, rink, or governing body that shares our vision. We strive for equitable partnerships to promote hockey's growth across all ages and skill levels.
