Spring/Summer 2021 hockey

We’re so excited to announce information for the 2021 Spring/Summer Hockey Season. House Hockey is the only tier of hockey available for Spring/Summer hockey in a league style play. Each rink offers house hockey programs; these programs last from approximately March to June. Throughout this time, many camps and clinics are available for players wishing to improve their skills and get extra ice time.

Below you will find information regarding House Hockey programs for the Spring/Summer season for 2021. Also, information regarding COVID-19 precautions is available. Please note, not all organization’s/rinks have released information for their programs; updates come as information is received.

The spring/summer program is governed by the Houston Metropolitan Hockey League, which has established divisions at the following levels:

8U- bIRTH YEARS 2012 and younger
10U- birth years 2010-2011
12U-bIRTH yEAR 2008-2009
14U-bIRTH yEAR 2006-2007
18U/High School

Age classifications are based on the Fall 2020-21 season. Travel players are required to play one level up from their normal division (for instance, a 12UA1 player is now a 14U player for the Spring/Summer session). In addition players moving up a division in the fall 2021-22 season, may be eligible to move up for the spring/summer session.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where will the teams’ practice and play?

The teams will practice at their respective programs home rink and games will be played at the Aerodrome, Sugar Land, Memorial City, Spirit Ice and Bellerive Ice Center. Teams can expect games on Saturday or Sunday. There could be weeks with 2 games on a weekend or a weekend with no game depending on the number of teams in the city. Much of it depends on ice availability.

How many players are on a team?

Generally, there are 15 players and two goalies placed on a team. 8U teams usually have 12-13 players on a team.

Are there any skating requirements for players?

In order to participate in the league, players must have passed either our Learn to Play program or previously skated for a USA Hockey Ice Hockey registered team, or another sanctioned, organized ice hockey program in Canada or Europe.

Does my child have to be evaluated or drafted to be placed on a team?

Each program has their own policies regarding evaluations. If multiple teams are required, they are always evenly balanced.

What documents are needed to play in-house?

To play in House a USA Hockey Number is required. No documents are needed, however new players may have to provide a copy of their birth certificate to program directors.
