Registration Now Open for Houston Roller !

Houston Youth Hockey Group (HYHG) is excited to announce that registration is now open for Houston Roller, an innovative roller hockey program designed to make hockey more accessible and affordable for the community. Running from July 6th to August 4th at the Houston Premier Sportsplex, this 6-week trial program offers a thrilling alternative to ice hockey, targeting both existing players and newcomers.

Program Overview:

• Duration: 6-week trial program
• Location: Houston Premier Sportsplex

Participant Structure:

• Age Divisions: The program is organized into three age groups: 8U-10U, 12U-14U, and HS (14U-18U).
• Team Composition: Each age group will have four teams, with each team consisting of 12 players and one goalie. Numbers can be adjusted as needed, and players have the opportunity to “drop-in” on teams that are short.

Program Format:

• Initial Session: The program will commence with an introductory practice for all participants to introduce the basics of roller hockey, including rules, techniques, and safety.
• Regular Games: Subsequent weeks will feature scheduled games focusing on team play. Drop-in options will be available for registered players within their respective age groups to ensure flexibility.
• Playoffs: In Week 6, the program will host a weekend-long round-robin tournament to determine the winner of the “Championship.” Drop-ins from team-to-team will not be allowed during the playoffs.

Costs and Registration

• Registration Fee: $150 per participant.

• Enhance Accessibility: Provide a more financially accessible entry point into hockey.
• Develop Skills: Offer a structured environment for skill improvement in roller hockey.
• Build Community: Strengthen community bonds through sport, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship among participants.

Additional Information: 

We understand that families may have travel plans or vacations during this time. It is perfectly fine if you cannot make some sessions; please still register. In the event we are unable to field teams at your registered age level, we will issue a full refund. We have already received positive interest and registrations across all age levels.

• Sock/Jersey (Provided Jersey)

Participants are advised to bring their own roller hockey equipment. This program is designed to not only develop sports skills but also to enhance physical fitness, promote healthy competition, and foster a passion for hockey in a new and exciting format.
